Koror City, the capital of Palau and the central commercial hub, is located on Oreor Island. It houses about half the country’s population. It was the capital of the South Seas Mandate during the interwar period, an area of islands that comprised the Empire of Japan’s mandated territory of the League of Nations. It became the capital of Palau in 2006 when Ngerulmud replaced it.

Kloulklubed, the main settlement of the Palau island Peleliu. It is located at the island’s northern end, near North beach. It was the center of Japanese operations in World War II. The remains of the Japanese communications center are still visible in the village. The village also contains a monument to the Battle of Peleliu.

Another notable feature of Kloulklubed is the gravesites where Haruo Remeliik, Palau’s first president, and Mamoru Nagamura are buried. Remeliik was assassinated in 1985, and Nakamura suffered a heart attack in 1992. Both of them were natives of Peleliu. Their graves are near the village’s center, close to the Governor’s office.

Melekeok is an island in the Republic of Palau on the east coast of Babeldaob Island. Ngerulmud, the country’s seat of government, is found in the state. It includes long beaches, hills, steep ridges, rivers, and Lake Ngardok, the only natural freshwater Lake in Micronesia and Palau.

Koror is the principal commercial center of the Republic of Palau. It comprises several islands, including Koror Island (also Oreor Island).

According to Palau’s oral tradition, Koror is one of the children of Milad and holds a prominent place in traditional belief. Koror is also the home of Ibedul, Palau’s high chief.

Meyuns, which has a population of around 1,000, is the second-most populous city on the tiny Pacific island of Palau. Meyuns has a population similar to Airai, Palau’s third-largest city. It is found in the State of Koror, also located in Koror, the nation’s largest and most populous city.

Meyuns, other than Koror, is the only significant town in the state. Meyuns, unlike the city of Koror, is located on Ngerekebesang Island along with Echang and Ngerekebesang, but Meyuns remains the only town on the island. It is connected to Oreor Island via a causeway. Belau National Hospital is located in Meyuns. It is the country’s largest hospital.
