Kuwait City is the capital and largest city of Kuwait. Located at the heart of the country on the south shore of Kuwait Bay on the Persian Gulf, it is the emirate’s political, cultural, and economic center, containing Kuwait’s Seif Palace, government offices, and the headquarters of most Kuwaiti corporations and banks.

The metropolitan area was home to more than 70% of the country’s inhabitants, with roughly 3 million people living there as of 2018. The city has no administrative status. Parts of the urban agglomeration comprise six governorates from the country. These areas can be subdivided into many different areas. In a narrower sense, Kuwait City can refer to only the historic core of the city, which is part of the Capital Governorate, and seamlessly merges into the surrounding urban areas.

Al Jahra is a city and town located 32 km (20 mi) west of the center of Kuwait City, Kuwait. Al Jahra, the capital of Al Jahra Governorate in Kuwait, is also the Al Jahra District. Both are agriculturally based. Encyclopaedia Britannica reported that the 1980 population was 67,311. Jahra was once a predominantly agricultural region. Jahra is home to many farms.

Salmiya can be divided administratively into 12 blocks. Blocks located closer to the district’s interior tend to be predominantly residential. However, the area near the Persian Gulf coast has a lot of residential and commercial real estate. Many foreigners live in the interior regions, mainly from the Indian subcontinent and other Arab countries that are not native to this area.

Al Ahmadi, a town founded in 1946 after the discovery of oil in Kuwait, is located in Al Ahmadi Governorate.

Al Ahmadi is located in the southern part of the country. It is home to the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) and the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), as well as many of its refineries.

Wafra is the southernmost area in Kuwait, within the boundaries of the former Saudi–Kuwaiti neutral zone. It is part of the Ahmadi Governorate and is well known for its fertile soil and farms. It is parallel with the Kuwait–Saudi Arabia border.

Wafra and Abdali to the north are the only two cities in Kuwait known for farming and livestock. Farms in Wafra are fed by groundwater. The farms have a very original cone-shaped mud dovecote with hundreds of birds. People tend to visit Wafra Market to buy fresh vegetables.
