Djibouti
Remove The Limitations And Barriers
Djibouti (officially the Republic of Djibouti) is a country in the Horn of Africa. It borders Somalia in its south, Ethiopia in its southwest, Eritrea (in the north), and the Red Sea in the Gulf of Aden to the east. Yemen is located across the Gulf of Aden. It covers an area totaling 8,958 mi2.
The Land of Punt was the land that included Somaliland, Eritrea, and Ethiopia in antiquity. Nearby, Zeila was home to the medieval Adal Sultanates and Ifat Sultanates. The colony of French Somaliland was founded in the late 19th century. It was created by treaties between the Dir Somali sultans and the French. Its railroad to Dire Dawa made it quickly overtake Zeila as the port to southern Ethiopia and Ogaden. In 1967, it was renamed the French Territory of the Afars. Ten years later, the Djiboutian population voted for their independence. This marked the official establishment of the Republic of Djibouti. It was named after the capital city. The United Nations was also joined by the new state in the same year, on 20 September 1977. Tensions over the representation of the government led to violence in the 1990s. This conflict was resolved in 2000 by a power-sharing deal between the ruling party (and the opposition)
