Bratislava, Slovakia’s capital and most populous city, is also its largest. Officially, the city’s population is approximately 440,000. However, it is estimated that the actual number is more than 660,000, roughly 150% of official statistics. Bratislava, located in southwest Slovakia at the foot of the Little Carpathians and occupying both the right bank and left bank of River Morava, was found in southwestern Slovakia. It borders Austria and Hungary.

Košice is eastern Slovakia’s largest city. It is located near the border to Hungary on the Hornad, at the eastern reach of the Slovak Ore Mountains. Košice, with a population of around 240,000, is the second largest city in Slovakia after Bratislava.

Nitra is a city located in western Slovakia at the foot of Zobor Mountain in the valley of the Nitra River. It is home to approximately 78,353 people and is the fifth-largest city in Slovakia. Nitra is also one of the oldest cities in Slovakia. It was once the political center of the Principality. It is now a Kraj (Nitra Region) and an Okres (Nitra Region).

Presov is an Eastern Slovakia city. It is the seat of the administrative Presov Region, Saris, and the historical Saros County of Hungary. It is the third largest city in Slovakia, with around 90,000. It is part of the Kosice Presov accumulation, which is the Saris region’s natural cultural and economic center.

It is named after the Eperjes–Tokaj Hill-Chain, which was the geographical entity shown on the first map of Hungary in 1528. Presov is home to many tourist attractions, including castles, pools, and the old town.

Banska Stiavnica, a town in central Slovakia’s caldera formed by the collapse of an ancient volcano, is the center of the enormous caldera. The Stiavnica Mountains are named after the caldera’s size. Banska Stiavnica is home to more than 10,000 people. It is a perfectly preserved medieval city.

The historical value of the area and surrounding areas led to their designation as UNESCO World Heritage Sites on December 11, 1993.
