Rwanda
Remove The Limitations And Barriers
The Republic of Rwanda is located in the Great Rift Valley, where the African Great Lakes and East Africa meet. A few degrees south of the Equator, Rwanda borders Uganda, Tanzania and Burundi. It is high, earning it the nickname “Land of a Thousand Hills.” The country’s geography is dominated by mountains to the west and a savanna in the south, with many lakes throughout the country. The climate is subtropical to temperate, with two rainy and two dry seasons per year. Rwanda is home to more than 13.51 million people. It occupies 10,169 miles of land, making it the most populous country. It is also the fifth-most populated country of any country larger than 10,000km2. Kigali’s capital and largest city is home to one million people.
Rwanda’s population is predominantly rural and young. The average age of Rwandans is 19 years. Rwandans come from one cultural and linguistic group: the Banyarwanda. There are, however, three subgroups within this group: the Hutu and the Tutsi. The Twa, a forest-dwelling pygmy population, are often considered descendants of Rwanda’s first inhabitants. Scholars differ on the origins and differences between the Hutu and Tutsi. Some believe that the belief differences result from the former social castes of a single person.
In contrast, others believe that the Hutu arrived separately from the Tutsi and came from different places. The country’s largest religion is Christianity. Kinyarwanda is the primary language, and most Rwandans speak it. English and French are also used as official languages.
