Fiji
Remove The Limitations And Barriers
Fiji is officially known as the Republic of Fiji. It is an island nation in Melanesia and a part of Oceania, the South Pacific Ocean. It is located approximately 1,100 nautical miles northeast of New Zealand. Fiji is an archipelago with more than 330 islands, of which around 110 are permanently inhabited. There are also more than 500 islets. The total area of Fiji’s land area is about 18,300 km2. Ono-i-Lau is the most remote island group. Around 87% of the 883,483 total population resides on the two main islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Three-quarters of Fijians live on Viti Levu’s coasts. They can be found in Suva and smaller cities like Nadi or Lautoka, where tourism is the dominant industry. Because of its terrain, the interior of Viti Levu has a sparse population.
Most of Fiji’s islands are formed from volcanic activity around 150 million years ago. Some geothermal activity is still occurring on the Taveuni and Vanua Levu islands. Viti Levu’s geothermal systems are not volcanic and produce low-temperature surface flows.

Suva, the capital and largest city of Fiji, is also its most significant. It is found on the southeast coast, in Rewa Province’s Central Division.
It was decided that Suva would be the capital of Fiji in 1877. The colony was administered at that time from Levuka on Ovalau Island in Lomaiviti Province. However, the geographical limitations of Luvuka had made it impossible to live in its surroundings. In 1882, the administration of the colony moved from Levuka to Suva.
Nadi is Fiji’s third-largest urban area. It is located on Viti Levu’s western side. The population was 42,284 as of 2007’s most recent census. The 2012 census showed that the number of people had risen to more than 50,000.
Nadi is multiracial, with many residents being Indians, Indians, or Indigenous Fijians. There are also large numbers of transient foreign tourists. Tourism is an essential part of the local economy.
Labasa is a Fiji town with a population estimated at 27,949 as of the 2007 census.
Labasa, located in Macuata Province in the northern-eastern portion of Vanua Levu, is the largest of the islands. The Wailuku River, Labasa, and Qawa form the delta that includes the town. An 8-kilometer canal links these two rivers. Although the township once depended on sugar cane farmers and workers during harvest season, it has become a more important source of seasonal employment. The farmer’s market sells seasonal produce and seafood. You will find small, family-owned businesses, supermarkets, and restaurants along the main street. It is a pedestrian-friendly area.
Lautoka is Fiji’s second-largest urban area. It’s located on the west coast, in the Ba Province of the Western Division. Sugar City is located in the middle of Fiji’s sugarcane-growing area. It covers 32 km2 and had a population in 2017 of 71 573, the most recent available.
Levuka, located in Lomaiviti Province in the Eastern Division, Fiji, is a small town along the eastern coast of Ovalau Island, Fiji. It was Fiji’s capital before 1877. Levuka had 1,131 inhabitants at the 2007 census, the latest available. This is roughly half of Ovalau’s 8,360 residents.
It is the island’s economic hub and largest settlement. Levuka, which was nominated many decades before, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site on June 13, 2013, to recognize the unique testimony of the Pacific colonial port towns.
