Paraguay
Remove The Limitations And Barriers
Paraguay, also known as the Republic of Paraguay in South America, is a country. It borders Argentina to the southwest and south, Brazil to the east and northeast, Bolivia to the northwest, and Brazil to the east. The capital, Asuncion, is the largest city in the country, with nearly 3 million people living there. Paraguay is one of two South American countries that are landlocked. It has ports on the Paraguay and Parana rivers, providing access to the Atlantic Ocean via the Parana–Paraguay Waterway.
Spanish conquistadores arrived in 1524 and established the city of Asuncion in 1537. This was the first capital of the Rio de la Plata Governorate. Paraguay, home to Jesuit missions in the 17th century, became the center for Jesuit missions. The native Guarani people were converted and brought up to Christianity. Paraguay became increasingly isolated after the Spanish Jesuits were expelled from Spanish territories in 1767. There were few urban centers or settlers. Paraguay gained independence from Spain in 1921. It was ruled by several authoritarian governments favoring isolationist, protectionist, and nationalist policies. The disastrous Paraguayan War (1864-1870) ended this period. The country lost approximately half its prewar population and 25-33% of its territory to the Triple Alliance of Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay.

The rest of the city is surrounded by the Central Department.
The city forms an autonomous capital district, not a part of any department. The metropolitan area, called Gran Asunción, includes the cities of San Lorenzo, Fernando de la Mora, Lambaré, Luque, Mariano Roque Alonso, Ñemby, San Antonio, Limpio, Capiatá and Villa Elisa, which are part of the Central Department. The Asunción metropolitan area has around two million inhabitants. The Asunción Stock Exchange lists the Municipality of Asunción as BVPASA: MUA.
