Brunei Darussalam, also known as Brunei Darussalam, is a country on the northeast coast of Borneo, Southeast Asia. It is surrounded, except by the South China Sea coast. The Sarawak district, Limbang, separates it into two parts. Brunei is the only sovereign state in Borneo. The remaining part of the island is split between Malaysia and Indonesia. Its population was 460.345, with approximately 100,000 living in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital and biggest city. The government is an absolute monarchy ruled by the Yang di-Pertuan. It implements English common law, sharia laws, and general Islamic practices.
At the height of the Bruneian Empire, Sultan Bolkiah is said to have held control over all of Borneo’s regions, including the modern-day Sarawak, Sabah, and the Sulu Archipelago, off the northeast tip and the islands off its northwest tip. Although claims claim they controlled Seludong, Southeast Asian scholars believe this refers only to a settlement at Mount Selurong in Indonesia. They fought against Spain during the 1578 Castilian War. Spain’s Magellan Expedition visited Brunei in 1521.

Bandar Seri Begawan is the largest city and the capital of Brunei. It is officially administered as a municipality (Malay: bandaran). Bandar Seri Begawan is home to an estimated 100,700 people. The metro area, which includes the entire Brunei-Muara District, has an estimated population of 279,924, more than half of the country’s total population.
Seria is a village in the Belait District of Brunei. The first oil for the country’s oil industry was discovered in 1929. Seria was originally called Padang Berawa in Malay, meaning “Wild Pigeon’s Field.”
According to the Historical Dictionary of Brunei Darussalam, the British named “Seria,” an acronym for South East Reserved Industrial Area. However, it is not sure that this is true because Seria is geographically situated in the northwest region of Brunei and not the east. The Industrial Area is near the site where oil was discovered for the first time in the region in 1929.
Tutong Town, also known as Tutong, is a town in the Tutong District of Brunei. It is approximately 50 km (31 mi) from the capital Bandar Seri Begawan. It is a Municipal Board area, and it covers 240.2 hectares.
In 1929, the Sanitary Board created the town. They were responsible for monitoring the cleanliness and development of the city.
Bangar is located in the Bruneian District of Temburong. The Malaysian state of Sarawak separated this isolated territorial exclave from the rest. In 2016, the population was 626.
The town is connected by the main road that runs roughly east-west. To the east is Lawas (Sarawak) and to its west is the river that crosses Limbang (Sarawak). This road leads to the quarry, where boulders are processed and sent to Bandar Seri Begawan stockyards for construction companies.
Kuala Belait (also known as Pekan Kuala Belait in Malay) is the administrative city of the Belait District, Brunei. It is located near the Belait River in the country’s westernmost region. In 2016, the population of the town was 4,259. Kuala Belait can be considered a municipality or a village under the same mukim.
