Imagine That You Have Been Selected As An Influential Person Of Country For A Week. What Do You Plan To Do For The Country In Just A Week?

If I was in charge of Australia for a week, I would spend my time working on ways to continual acknowledge, educate and celebrate our indigenous culture within our school system and society as a whole. Indigenous Australia is multifaceted and has a rich history. 

As a country, I believe we need to be better at hearing a different perspective and embracing this as a huge part of our history. We also have to be better at collaborating on actions that unite us rather than divide us with those who are actually impacted, Indigenous people themselves.

What Got You Where You Are Today?

I watched my sister, Taniele compete at the Beijing Olympics. That’s when I decided that one day I would be an Olympian too. And I did, twice. It was a roller coaster journey. 

From deselection to injury to everything in between. What’s more wild than the roller coaster, is that I would do it all over again. Sports has taught me so many lessons, given me so many skills beyond those in the water and allowed me to love, laugh and live around the world.

Dream big. If you fall, fall forward. If you fail, fail big. Failure is not something to fear. It’s in failure we can learn the most. So pick yourself up and try again. Be brave, dream big.
