Yaoundé, Cameroon’s capital, is home to more than 2.8 million people. It is also the second largest country, after Douala, with a population of 2.7 million. It is located in the Centre Region at approximately 750m (2,500 ft above sea level).

Cameroon’s earliest inhabitants were most likely the Bakas. They are still found in the forests of the east and south provinces. Bantu speakers originated in the Cameroonian highlands and were among the first to leave the country before the other invaders. The Fulani, an Islamic religious group from the western Sahel, conquered northern Cameroon in the late 1770s or early 1800s. They subjugated or forced the predominantly Non-Muslim inhabitants.

Douala, the capital of Cameroon’s Littoral Region, is the largest city. It is also the capital city of Cameroon’s Littoral Region. It is home to Douala International Airport (DLA), Central Africa’s largest airport and port, and it also serves as Cameroon’s economic and commercial capital.

It handles most of the country’s major exports, such as oil and cocoa, coffee, timber and metals, and fruits. The city and the surrounding areas had a population of 2,768,400 as of 2018. It is located on the estuary Wouri River and has a tropical climate.

Nkongsamba is a city in western Cameroon. It is located in the Littoral region’s Moungo district. The 2005 Census showed that the city had 104,050 inhabitants. It is home to palm oil, bananas, and coffee farming.

It is located between Mount Nlonako and the Manengouba Massif mountains. The “Ville” is the central point; all other areas are measured using “Kilo,” which stands for a kilometer. Mbo is one language used in the locality. In the nearby district, Kaa or Baneka are also used.

Bafoussam, the capital and the largest city in the West Region of Cameroon’s Bamboutos Mountains, is also the capital. It is third in Cameroon’s economic importance, after Yaounde and Douala.

Bafoussam’s communaute urbaine is a territorial decentralized collectivity. Originally known as the Urban Commune of Bafoussam (Urban Community), the communaute urbaine (Urban Community of Bafoussam) was created by the Presidential Decree 2008/022 of January 17, 2008. It consists of three communes: the Commune of Bafoussam I, Commune of Bafoussam II (Baleng), and the Commune of Bafoussam III.

Bamenda is also known as Abakwa or Mankon Town and is the capital of the Northwest Region in northwestern Cameroon. It is home to approximately 2 million people. It is 366 km (227 mi) west of Yaounde, the Cameroonian capital. Bamenda is well known for its beautiful hilly landscape and cool climate.
