Vietnam is a country in Southeast Asia. It lies at the eastern frontier of mainland Southeast Asia and covers an area of 331,690 km2. It is home to a population of more than 98.95 million and is the 15th most populated country globally. Vietnam borders China to its east and Laos and Cambodia to its north. It shares maritime borders with Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia via the Gulf of Thailand. Hanoi is Vietnam’s capital, while Ho Chi Minh City is its largest city.
Vietnam was inhabited during the Paleolithic period. The center of the first Vietnamese nation was established in the Red River Delta, northern Vietnam. The Chinese ruled the Vietnamese from 111 BC, when they annexed them, until 939, when they created the first independent dynasty. Successive monarchical kingdoms took Chinese influences through Confucianism and Buddhism and expanded southwards towards the Mekong delta. French colonization began the Nguyen in 1887, the last imperial monarchy. The August Revolution saw that August Revolution triggered the August Revolution. The communist revolutionary Ho Chi Minh led nationalist Viet Minh in declaring independence from France in 1945.

Ho Chi Minh, located in southern Vietnam, is the biggest city. It is situated in the southeastern part of Vietnam and surrounds the Saigon River. The area covers around 2,061 kilometers.
Before the arrival of Vietnamese settlers in the 17th century, the city had been a sparsely populated region that was part of the historic empires Funan, Chenla, and Cambodia. From 1623 to 1698, officials established the town. It was given to France in 1862 by the last Vietnamese Dynasty. The city was then urbanized to become a financial center in the region. From 1975, when the Vietnam War ended with the victory of the North Vietnamese 1975, the city was South Vietnam’s capital. 1976 saw the renaming of Saigon by the government of unified Vietnam in honor of Ho Chi Minh.
Hanoi is Vietnam’s capital. It has a total area of 3,358.6 km2 (1,296.8 mi). It is the second-largest city in Vietnam. It consists of 12 districts, one district-leveled village, and 17 rural areas. Hanoi is Vietnam’s cultural and political center in the Red River Delta.
Hue, the capital of Thua Thien Hue Province, is in central Vietnam. It was also the capital of Dang Trong between 1738 and 1775. Vietnam’s capital during the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1845). It was the administrative capital of the Nguyen Dynasty and served as the protectorate Annam’s capital during the French Indochina period.
Nha Trang, the capital and coastal city of Khanh Hoa Province on the South Central Coast of Vietnam, is Nha Trang. It is bordered on the north by Ninh Hoa District, on the south and Cam Ranh Town, and west by Dien Khanh District. It is home to approximately 392,000 people, with a projected growth of 560,000 inhabitants by 2015 and 630,000 by 2025.
An area of 12.87km2 in the western communes of Dien An and Dien Toan will be combined into Nha Trang. This new area will be 265.47 km2, according to the approval by the Prime Minister of Vietnam on September 2012.
Can Tho is the largest city of the Mekong Delta region and the 4th largest city in Vietnam.
It is known for its floating markets and rice paper-making village. It is home to around 1,282,300 people and is on the south bank of the Hau River. This river is a distributary of the Mekong River. The collapse of the Can Tho Bridge in 2007 caused Vietnam’s worst engineering catastrophe. The Can Tho International Airport was opened in 2011.
