Trincomalee, the administrative head of the Trincomalee District, is a major resort city in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. Trincomalee is located on the east coast, overlooking the Trincomalee Harbour. It is 237 km (147 mi), 182 km (113 mi) northeast of Colombo and 111 km (69 mi) north of Batticaloa. Trincomalee was one of the major centers for Sri Lankan Tamil language-speaking culture for more than two millennia. The city has a population of 99.135. It is situated on a peninsula with the same name that divides its inner- and outer harbors.

Anuradhapura, a major city in Sri Lanka, is called the capital. It is the capital of Sri Lanka’s North Central Province and Anuradhapura District. Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s ancient capital, is known for the well-preserved remains of an ancient Sinhala civilization. It was the third capital in the kingdom, Rajarata, after Upatissa Nuwara and Tambapanni.

It lies on the banks of the historic Malvathu River. It is home to one of eight World Heritage Sites in Sri Lanka and is the oldest continuously inhabited city on the planet.
