Algiers, the capital and most populous city of Algeria, is home to approximately 2988,000145 people. At the 2008 Census, Algiers had a population of 2,988,145. In 2011, it was estimated to have a population of around 3,500,000. The population of the largest metropolitan area is estimated to be approximately 5,000,000. Algiers lies in the middle of Algeria, near the Mediterranean Sea.

Algiers lies on the west coast of a Mediterranean Sea bay. The city’s modern section is built on the beachfront. The old city, or the city of the deys (the ancient city of days), rises the hill behind the modern town and is crowned with the Casbah, a citadel, at 122m (400 ft). The Casbah and two quays form the triangle.

Constantine, also known as Kasantina, is the capital of Constantine Province. It’s located in northeastern Algeria. It was initially called Cirta in Roman times. In honor of Constantine the Great, it was renamed “Constantina.” It was the capital city of Constantine, the French French département. Constantine, which is located somewhat inland, is approximately 80 km (50 miles) away from the Mediterranean coast on the banks of the Rhumel River.

Tlemcen, the capital of the Tlemcen Province, is the second-largest city in north-western Algeria. It has developed textile, leather, and carpet industries that it exports via the port at Rachgoun. At the last census, it had 377,400 inhabitants, while the province had 1,302,000.

Oran, a coastal city in the northwest region of Algeria, is known as the “Big City.” Because of its population and cultural and industrial importance, it is second to Algeria’s most important city after Algiers. It is located 432km (268 mi) away from Algiers. It was home to 803,329 people in 2008, and the metro area had a population of around 1,500,000, making it the second-largest city in Algeria.

Annaba, formerly Bon, Bona, and Bone, was a seaport in the northeastern corner of Algeria near Tunisia. Annaba lies close to the Seybouse River and is part of the Annaba Province. Annaba, Algeria’s third largest city, has a population of approximately 464 740 and 1,000,000, respectively (2019). It is Algeria’s most important industrial center.
