Remove The Limitations And Barriers
Syria is found in Western Asia. It borders the Mediterranean Sea on its west, Turkey on its north, Iraq on the southeast, and Jordan on the south. To the southwest are Israel and Lebanon. Cyprus, located across the Mediterranean Sea to the west is found. Many religious and ethnic groups call Syria home, which is a country of fertile plains, high mountains, and deserts. Sunnis, Christians, and Alawites are the most prominent religious groups. Damascus, the capital and most populous city of Syria, is also its largest. The Arabs are the largest ethnic group, while the Sunnis are the largest religious group.
Syria is one republic, with 14 governorates. It is the only country that supports Ba’athism. It is a member of the Non-Aligned Movement (an international organization that is not part of the United Nations). It was expelled from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League in November 2011. The Union for the Mediterranean was then disbanded.
