Portugal
Remove The Limitations And Barriers
Portugal, also known as the Portuguese Republic, is a country that has its mainland on the Iberian Peninsula in Southwestern Europe. Its territory also includes the Azores archipelagos and Madeira. It is the most western point of mainland Europe. The Iberian portion, which borders the Atlantic Ocean to the west and south and Spain to the north and south, is the only country with a land border with Portugal. The two archipelagos comprise two independent regions, each with a regional government. Portuguese is the official language. Lisbon is the capital city and the largest.
Portugal is the oldest nation-state on the Iberian Peninsula, and one of Europe’s oldest, with its territory continuously settled, invaded, and fought over since prehistoric times. It was inhabited by pre-Celtic and Celtic peoples, visited by Phoenicians-Carthaginians, and Ancient Greeks, and ruled by the Romans. They were followed by the invasions of the Suebi and Visigothic Germanic peoples. Most of its territory became part of Al-Andalus after the Moors invaded the Iberian Peninsula.
