New Year’s Eve is also known as Old Year’s Day or Saint Sylvester’s Day in several countries. This is the last day of the year and is celebrated on 31st December.
People in different countries celebrate the New Year according to their culture and heritage. In some parts of the world, people celebrate it by visiting the church to start the new year with blessings. Some celebrate the upcoming year with night parties in the clubs, pubs, or even take the party to the street. Others also celebrate this evening with their families and enjoy fireworks. Several attend a watch-night service too. Tonga is the place where New Year’s Eve is celebrated first while in Baker Island it is celebrated in the last.
