U.S. Virgin Islands
Remove The Limitations And Barriers
Officially known as the Virgin Islands of America, the United States Virgin Islands are a grouping of Caribbean islands. They are also an unincorporated territory and not organized by the United States. These islands are part of the Virgin Islands archipelago. They are located in the Leeward Islands, Lesser Antilles, east and west of Puerto Rico.
The U.S. Virgin Islands includes Saint Croix and Saint John’s main islands and 50 smaller islands and cays. The territory covers 133.73 sq. miles (346.36km2). Charlotte Amalie, the territory’s capital, is located on St. Thomas.
They were previously known as the Danish West Indies of the King of Denmark-Norway (1754-1814) or the independent Kingdom of Denmark (1714-1814). In 1917, the Danish West Indies sold them to the United States for $25,000,000 under the 1917 Treaty of the Danish West Indies. Since then, they have been an unincorporated, organized territory of the United States. The 1954 Revised Organic Act on the Virgin Islands established the U.S. Virgin Islands. They have held five constitutional conventions since then.

Charlotte Amalie is the capital and largest city in the United States Virgin Islands. It was initially named Taphus, which means “beer house”/”beer hall,” in 1666.
The town was renamed Charlotte Amalie in 1691 after Charlotte Amalie, queen consort of King Christian V of Denmark/Norway (1650-1714). The harbor is a deep-water port that was once home to pirates. It is now one of the busiest ports for cruise ships in the Caribbean, with 1.5 million passengers annually. Hassel Island protects the harbor. It has docking and fueling facilities as well as machine shops and shipyards. This harbor was also a U.S. submarine base from 1966 to 1966.
Near Cyril E. King Airport is Charlotte Amalie West. This town is on St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is located near Cyril E. King Airport and Anna’s Retreat. In 2000, the population was 5,146.
Frederiksted, the town and one of the administrative districts of St. Croix (U.S. Virgin Islands), is the name of Frederiksted. It is a grid-planned, planned city that Jens Beckford designed. The original size of the town was 14×14 blocks. However, it was expanded to 7×7 to increase island commerce during the 1700s. Frederiksted is home to less than 1,000 people, while the western half of the island has close to 10,000.
Christiansted, a middle island in the north, is approximately 30 years old. However, commerce was restricted by its shallow protective reef. Frederiksted, built on the island’s east side (a shadow from the wind), allowed for calm seas and a naturally deep harbor. Fort Frederik is located here. It was built to defend the town against pirate raids and attacks from rival imperialist countries. The name Frederick V of Denmark, who bought the Danish West Indies in 1754, is Frederik.
Anna’s Retreat is a town located in the administrative district of Tutu in St. Thomas (U.S. Virgin Islands). Anna’s Retreat was the second-largest U.S Virgin Islands town after Charlotte Amalie, with 7,600 people in 2006.
Tourists are familiar with many country areas and help support the local economy.
Coral Bay is a town and sub-district located on the American Virgin Islands island of St. John. It is found on the island’s southeastern shore. In the 19th century, it was the central commercial hub of the island.
However, the population declined as the Cruz Bay side of St. Thomas, with its airport and ferry to St. Thomas, became the gateway into the Virgin Islands National Park. Coral Bay today is a small, thriving community with small outdoor restaurants, grocery stores, businesses, and tourism services.
