Singapore, also known by the Republic of Singapore (or Singapore) is an independent island-state in Southeast Asia. It is located at one degrees of latitude (137 km/85 miles) north from the equator. It can be found at the southern tip the Malay Peninsula. It borders the Straits of Malacca in the West, the Riau Islands in the South, and the South China Sea in the East. The country’s total territory includes one main island and 63 satellite islands, islets, or islets. Their combined area has increased 25% since independence. This is due to extensive land redevelopment. This country has the second-highest density of population in the world. Singapore is home to four official languages, English, Malay, Mandarin, and Malay. Singapore was then placed under British direct control as part and parcel of the Straits Settlements. Japan took Singapore in the Second World War after Japan surrendered in 1945. The British Crown Colony reestablished Singapore. Singapore was granted self-government in 1959. It joined the Federation of Malaysia in 1963. Two years later, Singapore was expelled form the Federation because of ideological differences. In 1965, it became an independent nation.
