Qatar, also known as the State of Qatar, is a country in Western Asia. It lies on the coast of the Arabian Peninsula’s tiny Qatar Peninsula. It shares its only land boundary with Saudi Arabia, a member of the Gulf Cooperation Council to the south.

It also has the third-highest HDI score in all of the Arab countries. Qatar is a country of high income with the world’s third-largest natural resource and largest oil reserves. Qatar is the world’s largest exporter of liquefied natural gas and also the biggest emitter of greenhouse gases per capita.
