Chisinau is also known as Kishinev, and it is the capital of the Republic of Moldova. This city, which is Moldova’s largest industrial and commercial centre, is situated in central Moldova, at the bank of the River Bac, a tributary to the Dniester.

The 2014 census results showed that the city had 532,513, and the Municipality of Chisinau had 700,000. Chisinau, Moldova’s largest transport hub and most economically successful locality, is Chisinau. The metro area is home to nearly a third Moldova’s population.

Tiraspol, the capital of Transnistria (a separatist state in Moldova), is the second-largest city. It is situated on the eastern bank the Dniester River. Tiraspol is the regional center of light industry. It includes furniture production and electrical goods manufacturing.

Alexander Suvorov, a Russian generalissimo, founded the modern city of Tiraspol in 1792. However, the area was inhabited for thousands years by various ethnic groups. Every year, the city celebrates its 14th anniversary on October 14.

Bălți is a city in Moldova. It is the second largest city in terms of population, area and economic importance, after Chișinău. The city is one of the five Moldovan municipalities. Sometimes also called “the northern capital”, it is a major industrial, cultural and commercial centre and transportation hub in the north of the country. 

It is situated 127 kilometres (79 mi) north of the capital Chișinău, and is located on the river Răut, a tributary of the Dniester, on a hilly landscape in the Bălți steppe.

Soroca, a municipality and city in Moldova, is located on the Dniester River about 160 km north from Chisinau. It is the administrative centre of the Soroca District.

Tighina, also known by Bender is a city located within the internationally recognized borders Moldova. It’s situated on the west bank of Dniester in the Romanian Historical Region of Bessarabia.
