Remove The Limitations And Barriers
Officially called the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Marshall Islands are an independent country in the Pacific Ocean near the Equator. They are slightly west of the International Date Line. The country is located in the Micronesia larger island group. The country has a population of 58.413 people. It is spread over five islands and 29 coral islands, comprising 1,156 islands and islets. Majuro is the capital and largest city. At 97.87%, it has the most water-rich territory of any sovereign state. They share maritime borders with Wake Island to its north, Kiribati, and Nauru to the south, Nauru to their west, and the Federated States of Micronesia to the west. Micronesian colonists colonized the Marshall Islands in the 2nd millennium BC. They reached it using canoes, and inter-island navigation were possible with traditional stick charts. They settled down there. Europeans first explored the archipelago’s islands in the 1520s. They started with Ferdinand Magellan (a Portuguese explorer serving Spain) and Miguel de Saavedra. Spanish explorer Alonso de Salazar reported sighting an atoll in August 1526. English and Spanish ships continued the expeditions. John Marshall visited the islands in 1788 and gave them their names.
