Madagascar
Remove The Limitations And Barriers
It is officially the Republic of Madagascar. However, it was previously known as the Malagasy Republic. It lies in the Indian Ocean, 400 km (250 mi) from East Africa’s coast. The Mozambique Channel separates it. Madagascar is second in the area after Indonesia at 592 800 km (226 658 mi2). Madagascar is part of the nation, along with a few smaller islands and other islands.
Madagascar was formed from Gondwana’s supercontinent around 88 million years ago. This allowed for the development of native plants and animals in relative isolation. Madagascar is now a biodiversity hotspot. More than 90% is endemic.
In the first millennium AD, Austronesian peoples established Madagascar’s human settlement. They arrived in Madagascar on outrigger canoes brought from Indonesia. In the 9th century AD, Bantu migrants from East Africa crossed the Mozambique Channel to be with them. Other groups arrived in Madagascar over time and contributed significantly to Malagasy culture. The largest of the 18 Malagasy ethnicities is the Merina, which comes from the central highlands.
