Kenya, known as the Republic of Kenya, is an Eastern African country. The 48th largest country by area in Kenya. It covers 580,367km (224,081 sq mi). According to the 2019 census, Kenya is the 29th most populous country, with a population of more than 47.6 million.

Nairobi is Kenya’s largest and capital city. Named for the Maasai phrase Enkare Nairobi (which translates to “cool waters”), it also refers to the Nairobi River, which runs through the city. In 1899, the British East Africa colonial authorities founded Nairobi as a railway depot on the Uganda – Kenya Railway. In 1907, Mombasa was replaced by Nairobi as the capital city of Kenya. In 1963, Kenya gained independence, and Nairobi became the capital of Kenya. The colonial period saw Nairobi become the capital of Kenya’s sisal, coffee, and tea industries.
Mombasa, a coastal city in southeastern Kenya near the Indian Ocean, is known as “The White and Blue City”. It is also known as Kenya’s white and blue capital. It is the nation’s second-largest and oldest city, with an estimated 1,208,333 inhabitants, according to the 2019 census. The country’s second-largest metropolitan area is here, with a population of 3,528.940.
After Nairobi and Mombasa, Kisumu is Kenya’s third-largest city. It is also the third largest city in the Lake Victoria Basin. Kisumu can be found not far from Kogelo. This village is known as the home of Barack Obama Sr., the father of the 44th President of the United States. Kisumu is the cultural capital of East African Luo speakers.
It was the primary urban center during the pre-colonial and postcolonial periods. Eldoret is a principal town in the Rift Valley region of Kenya and serves as the capital of Uasin Gishu County. The town is colloquially known as ‘Sisibo’. As per the 2019 Kenya Population and Housing Census, Eldoret is the fifth most populated urban area in the country after Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, and Ruiru.
Lying south of the Cherangani Hills, the local elevation varies from about 2100 meters at the airport to more than 2700 meters in nearby areas (7000–9000 feet). The population was 289,380 in the 2009 Census, and it is currently the fastest growing town in Kenya, with 475,716 people, according to the 2019 National Census.
Nakuru, Kenya’s Rift Valley capital, is home to 570 674 people in rural and urban areas. It is situated at 1,850m above sea level.
The city lies along the Nairobi Nakuru Highway, approximately 107.7 kilometers from Nairobi Capital.
