In the 9th century, Great Moravia established the Duchy of Bohemia. It was officially recognized as an Imperial state of the Holy Roman Empire and made a kingdom in 1198. The entire Crown of Bohemia was slowly incorporated into the Habsburg Monarchy after the Battle of Mohacs in 1526. The Protestant Bohemian Revolution triggered the Thirty Year’s War. The Habsburgs established their control after the Battle of the White Mountain. The Austrian Empire was formed when the Holy Empire collapsed in 1806, and the Crown lands were included.
