It covers approximately 11,401 km2 (4.402 sq mi) of land. The town, located in the state’s northeast corner, is the heart of the Manaus metropolitan region and the largest urban area in Brazil’s North Region. It is located near the confluence between the Solimoes and Negro rivers.
