Stockholm is Sweden’s capital. It is the home of Sweden’s largest urban area. It is home to 975k residents. The urban area is home to approximately 1.6 million people. The population of the metropolitan area is around 2.4 million. The city is spread over 14 islands where Lake Malaren enters the Baltic Sea. Stockholm archipelago is in the East. Gothenburg is the capital of Vastra Gotaland County and the second-largest Swedish town. It is also the fifth largest in Nordic countries. It is located on the west coast of Sweden, at Kattegat. There are approximately 570,000 residents. It is home to around 1 million people.

In 1621, King Gustavus Adolphus founded Gothenburg in the Netherlands as a fortified trading settlement. The great privileges (e.g., tax relaxation) he granted to his Dutch allies during his ongoing Thirty Year’s War also attracted many of his German- and Scottish allies to reside in his westernmost city. The largest port in Scandinavia is the Port of Gothenburg. It is located at Gota alv’s mouth in central Scandinavia.

Lund is located in southern Sweden’s Scania province, across the Oresund Strait from Copenhagen. As of 2018, the town had 91,940 residents out of a total municipal population of 121,510. It is also the seat of Lund Municipality in Scania County. More than 4.1 Million people call the Oresund Region home, which includes Lund.

Helsingborg, Scania’s capital, is home to the Helsingborg Municipality. It is home to 113,816 people, making it the second-largest city in Scania (after Malmo) and the ninth-largest in Sweden. Helsingborg, the center of the northern region of western Scania, is also the closest point to Denmark. The Danish city of Helsingor can be seen about 4 km (2 mi) to the West along the Oresund.
