It was Serbian Vojvodina’s capital, Serbia’s Voivodeship, and Banat of Temeschwar from 1848 to 1860. With 319,279 residents at the 2011 census, Timisoara was the third most populous city in the country, after Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, and Timisoara.

The city is home to nearly half a million people in its metropolitan area. Meanwhile, the Timisoara-Arad conurbation contains more than 70% of the population from Timis and Arad. Timisoara is home to 21 different religions and ethnicities. The country’s western region has always had a strong tradition of interculturality. At a distance between the city and the spa resorts, Buzias, and Baile Calacea, are the two most famous healing waters in the country. They have been known since Roman times.

The oldest continuously inhabited city of Romania, Constanta, was once known as Tomis. It was established around 600 BC. It is located on the Black Sea coast in Romania’s Northern Dobruja region. It is the capital and largest city of the Dobrogea historical region.
